NeuroConstruct Privacy Policy

Last updated:

NeuroConstruct ("we," "us," or "our") sets forth this Privacy Policy (this "Policy") regarding how we handle user information in connection with the website and iOS applications and related services we provide (collectively, the "Services").

For legally required business disclosures about us, please see our notices under Japan's Act on Specified Commercial Transactions.

Third-party advertising on the web version

We do not place ad inventory served by third-party ad networks on the website we operate (including past-exam browser practice and similar features). This supports focus on learning and clarity when the site is used by educational institutions and businesses.

If we change this approach or related functionality, we will revise this Policy and the Terms of Use and provide notice within the Services. This section applies to the website only. For advertising in iOS applications, see the following section.

Third-party advertising in iOS applications

Some iOS applications we provide (for example, the photo organization app "Sakusaku Photo Organizer") may display third-party advertising on the free plan, including display ads, video ads, rewarded ads, and interstitial ads. If you purchase a paid plan (such as Pro), ads are generally not shown in that app.

Advertising partners

We use Google AdMob, provided by Google LLC ("AdMob"), to deliver ads and measure ad performance. AdMob and advertisers or partners that deliver ads through AdMob may collect and use information such as device information, advertising identifiers, IP addresses, in-app interaction data, and ad impression or click events for purposes including ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and personalization (where permitted). Each provider handles information under its own privacy policy.

App Tracking Transparency (ATT) and advertising identifiers

On iOS 14.5 and later, our apps may access identifiers used for cross-app and cross-website tracking (such as IDFA) only with your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, and use them to show more relevant ads and measure ad performance. If you do not grant ATT permission, you can still use core features such as photo organization, but ads may be less personalized and measurement methods may differ. You can change ATT settings at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Photos and advertising (Sakusaku Photo Organizer and similar apps)

In photo organization apps, your photos, videos, or photo library contents are not transmitted to or stored on our servers or on AdMob or other third-party servers for advertising purposes. Similar-photo analysis and related image processing take place on your device. However, ad networks may separately collect technical information about your device or network in the course of ad delivery.

Rewarded ads

On the free plan, we may offer optional benefits (such as temporary increases to usage limits) when you complete viewing a rewarded video ad. Watching rewarded ads is voluntary. You can continue using the app through basic features or by purchasing a paid plan without watching ads.

Children

Our apps are intended for general audiences. If you are a minor, please use the Services with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian.

If we change the types of ads, ad providers, or how related data is handled, we will revise this Policy and the Terms of Use and provide notice within the Services.

Information we collect and how we use it

The website (including past-exam dungeon and similar features) and study-related iOS applications (including the NeuroQuest Master series) do not require registration with your name, email address, or similar personal details. However, for service improvement and statistical display, we may automatically save answer history linked to an anonymous ID as described below in "Anonymous learning records on the web and iOS versions."

However, to provide iOS application features and to improve the Services, we may automatically collect or process the following categories of information:

  • Photos and media library access: For photo organization apps (including Sakusaku Photo Organizer), we access the photo library on your device to provide features such as viewing, organizing, and deleting photos. All of this processing takes place locally on your device; we do not transmit or store your photo data on our servers or those of third parties.
  • Location (GPS) information: For weather apps (including AtmosView Weather Lab) and field GPS management apps (including SiteMark), we obtain device location through the operating system after your clear permission, to show local weather and provide certain features. Location data is used only to provide those features and is not persistently stored or used for tracking on our or third-party servers in a manner that identifies you.
  • App activity and usage data: Depending on the app, we may collect data such as study progress (e.g. NeuroQuest), settings, or in-app activity. These are used to operate features and, where applicable, to sync data across your devices via iCloud.
  • Payment-related information (anonymized): Used to manage in-app purchase status, unlock paid features, and restore purchase history. Payment instrument details such as credit card numbers are managed by Apple Inc. and payment processors; we do not directly retain them.
  • Advertising and measurement-related information: In iOS apps that offer a free plan (including Sakusaku Photo Organizer), information such as OS version, device model, language settings, IP address, advertising identifiers (such as IDFA), and ad impression or click events may be collected and processed by AdMob and its partners for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and (where permitted) personalized advertising.
  • Device information and diagnostic data: We may use technical information such as device type, OS version, and app version to improve quality and fix defects. If any app sends crash logs or similar diagnostic data through a third-party service, we will disclose that in connection with that app and when this Policy is updated.

Information submitted through contact forms

When you submit an inquiry through contact forms on our website (including the general NeuroConstruct form and app-specific support pages), we collect and store the following information:

  • Your name (required)
  • Email address for replies (required on the general NeuroConstruct form; optional on app-specific support forms)
  • Inquiry category
  • Message content
  • Source identifier (e.g. corporate or app-specific), and browser user agent
  • App version and build number when the form is opened from an iOS app's settings (attached automatically)

We use this information only to respond to your inquiry, send replies when needed, and improve our services. It is stored in the database infrastructure we use (Supabase, Inc.). We retain inquiry content for as long as needed to handle your request and delete it when it is no longer required for operations. To request deletion, please contact us via the contact form at the end of this Policy.

We do not sell this information or share it for advertising purposes. We do not disclose it to third parties except where required by law, necessary for infrastructure providers (such as Supabase) to operate the service, or with your consent.

Anonymous learning records on the web and iOS versions

For the web-based past-exam practice we operate (NeuroQuest / past-exam dungeon) and the iOS version of NeuroQuest (including study apps in the Master series), we do not ask you to enter personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or phone number. You do not need to complete an account registration form.

To improve service quality, understand usage, and display statistics such as correct-answer rates, we may store the following information on the authentication and database infrastructure provided by Supabase, Inc. The web and iOS versions share the same anonymous learning-record infrastructure, and we record which client (web or iOS) sent each event.

Examples of information we may store

  • Anonymous user ID (an identifier automatically issued via Supabase Anonymous Sign-in; not linked to your name or email address)
  • Answer events (e.g. exam type, question ID, selected answer, correctness, and timestamp)
  • Technical information that does not directly identify you and that accompanies the above (e.g. authentication tokens needed for session identification, and the type of client that sent the event)

Learning activities covered

Anonymous answer events cover ordinary past-exam practice (one confirmed answer per question). We do not send events from modes excluded from aggregate statistics, such as mock-exam mode or glossary mode.

Purposes of use

  • Stable operation of the Services and investigation of defects
  • Display of correct-answer rates and answer trends in anonymized, aggregated form
  • Improvement of questions and explanations, and enhancement of web and iOS features

Tracking

We do not use the anonymous learning records described above for advertising or cross-app or cross-website tracking. They are not linked to advertising identifiers such as IDFA.

Provision or sale to third parties

We do not sell the anonymous learning records described above to third parties or share them for advertising purposes. We do not disclose them to third parties except as required by law or as necessary for infrastructure providers (such as Supabase) to operate the Services.

Retention and deletion

Retention periods and deletion methods for anonymous learning records will be kept for operationally necessary periods and announced when this Policy is revised or separately on the website. Some iOS apps may let you stop sending anonymous answer statistics from settings. For deletion requests, please contact us via the contact form at the end of this Policy.

Relationship to personal study data (iCloud, etc.)

Study progress, bookmarks, iCloud sync, and on-device storage in the iOS version of NeuroQuest are managed as your personal study data through Apple iCloud or on your device, separately from the anonymous learning records in this section. Anonymous learning records do not include personally identifiable information such as your name or email address and are used only to generate aggregate statistics.

Third-party tools and external services

We use the following external services to operate the Services, process payments, and analyze access. Each provider handles information under its own privacy policy.

  • Apple Inc. (App Store / CloudKit): In-app payments and, for supported apps, secure synchronization of user data via iCloud (e.g. study progress sync where available).
  • RevenueCat, Inc.: Verification and management of in-app purchases and subscription status. Device identifiers and App Store transaction-related information may be sent to RevenueCat as needed to confirm purchase status.
  • Google LLC (Google AdMob): Delivery of third-party ads, ad impression measurement, and (where permitted) personalized advertising in iOS apps that offer a free plan (including Sakusaku Photo Organizer). For how AdMob and its ad partners handle information, see Google's Privacy Policy and How AdMob uses data.
  • Supabase, Inc.: Delivery of problem data to applications, operation of backend systems, anonymous user authentication and storage of answer history (answer_events) on the web and iOS versions, and storage of contact form submissions.
  • Vercel Inc. (Vercel Analytics): We use this to understand traffic and usage of the website we operate. It is designed with privacy in mind, does not use tracking cookies for cross-user tracking, and aggregates anonymized access data.

Disclosure of personal information to third parties

We use personal information you provide through contact forms (such as your name, email address, and message content) only to respond to inquiries and improve our services. We do not sell or disclose this information to third parties except where required by law, necessary for infrastructure providers (such as Supabase) to operate the service, or with your consent.

User control and deletion of data

You may use settings within each iOS app (for example, a function to completely erase study data in study-related apps) to reset or delete usage data stored on the device and in iCloud within the limits of the feature. Photos in photo organization apps are managed in the system photo library; photo data is not sent to our servers.

For anonymous learning records on the web and iOS versions, some iOS apps may offer a setting to stop sending anonymous answer statistics. We do not provide a self-service deletion UI in every environment. Please contact us via the contact form at the end of this Policy if you wish to request deletion.

To request deletion of information we stored from a contact form submission, please also contact us via the contact form at the end of this Policy.

Links to external sites

The Services may contain links to external sites. We are not responsible for how personal information is collected or handled on those sites. Please review the privacy policies of linked websites.

Security of information

We work to protect information by appropriate means, including using SSL/TLS encryption for data communications where applicable, so that you can use the Services with confidence.

Changes to this Policy

We may change this Policy from time to time due to new or amended laws or changes to the Services. Material changes take effect when posted within the Services. Continued use after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
